Stephen Downes - A very, very special guest

Saturday, September 23rd, 2006

I don’t think I have to do anything more to introduce this incredible human being than to copy and past one of his DAILY newsletters. And add a few links. Welcome aboard Stephen Downes, a class act if ever there was one! (more…)

Bloodhoundsearch — Hello SIMS, bye bye RSS

Tuesday, August 1st, 2006

In the last few weeks I’ve been looking at Bloodhoundsearch Technologies, a brand new company that offers something we all need — a very personal search engine. It’s still got some bumps to flatten out, and it needs some “human hands” (for dummies) like me, but today we made our first stab at an e-learning portal where Bloodhound does all the work. Please visit this brand new Portal. And, come back often; I’ve got a very smart guy working on improving it as we speak.

The Long Tail

Sunday, July 23rd, 2006

Stephen Downes - A guru’s guru

Sunday, July 23rd, 2006

Stephen Downes will grace our stage sometime Sunday afternoon, Canadian time, October 8. He’s a remarkable guy as any visit to his web site will confirm. Hopefuly, we will “match” Stephen with those who are fervently opposed to the idea of unfettered access to “copyrighted” works. For another hint of what’s to come, please visit Creative Commons.

Stay tuned

Podcasting in the Classroom

Saturday, July 8th, 2006

We were delighted to learn that Dan Schmit, lead spirit to Podcasting in the Classroom, will be joining us on Voyage Ten. With the advent of iTunes and the enormous numbers of podcasters — coupled to our desire to provide GLD content to community radio stations world wide — we look to Dan to help in this very important category. Not only does Dan practice what he preaches, he has written a book on the subject of classroom podcasting. Click here to reach Dan’s Forum

Introduction — Canada & USA Region

Wednesday, July 5th, 2006

Start time for presentations from Canada and the USA is Sunday, October 8 at GMT 16:00. The equivalent time in dozens of cities from around the world can be found here. With English the lingua franca of the planet, and a large number of organizers and presenters from Canada and the USA, we struggle doubly hard to find presenters from this Region with an “global outlook”.
