Who do we seek? Why?

Friday, September 8th, 2006

Who do we try to feature during Global Learn Day?

We seek those who can favorably and convincingly provide positive answers to any one of these three questions:

1. What are you doing in your part of the world to significantly improve access to learning?

2. What are you doing in your part of the world that is truly novel and is most likely to substantially increase the motivation of your students to learn?

3. What are you doing in your part of the world to broadcast and publicize your work?

Every once in a great while we hit the jackpot and get someone who is doing all three.

Why do we do it?

Our hope is that showcasing those doing exceptional work, and helping them broadcast that work as widely as possible — that all of this will accelerate access to education — and, in the end, make for a safer, saner world. More? Please click here.

South Asian Keynoter Dr. T.V. Raman

Friday, September 1st, 2006

Post GLD Archive Update — Dr. Raman’s recording found here

I am exceptionally pleased to confirm that Dr. T. V. Raman will be Global Learn Day Ten Keynoter, South Asian Region. He will be introduced by our Navigator and long time friend from that region, Dr. Arun Mehta.

It would be a disservice to Dr. Raman to make any attempt to summarize here the extent of his work in the field of access for those with disabilities. Please, please visit his home page, found here.

All by themselves, these two men, alone, could captivate our audience for the entire Voyage. Imagine how sparkling will be the conversation when you see the rest of the panelists Arun has gathered. More later.

Bloodhoundsearch — Hello SIMS, bye bye RSS

Tuesday, August 1st, 2006

In the last few weeks I’ve been looking at Bloodhoundsearch Technologies, a brand new company that offers something we all need — a very personal search engine. It’s still got some bumps to flatten out, and it needs some “human hands” (for dummies) like me, but today we made our first stab at an e-learning portal where Bloodhound does all the work. Please visit this brand new Portal. And, come back often; I’ve got a very smart guy working on improving it as we speak.
